It’s going to be busy !!!!
We plan to bring smiles back to Glossop and support our High st. And that means lots of lovely visitors and local people on the weekend of 29th- 31st May 2026.
To keep people safe we are closing roads for the parade and static displays over the weekend. below is the info on ROAD closure times, car park closures and diversions. Buses and Taxis will be affected too.
This means there will be lots of congestion for the weekend. So please divert around Glossop centre using the advice below, and allow more journey time.
Emergency vehicle access and pedestrian access to businesses and homes are not affected, although parking will be.
Roads around Glossop and parking will be busy during the weekend with diversions in place. To accommodate attractions on display we will be closing from 8 am Friday 29th May to 8pm Sunday 31st May 2026 (unless otherwise stated) –
West end of B&M car park
North side of market car park, Market Ground,
Norfolk Arms/old NatWest car park.
Parking will be suspended at the far East end of Bernard St and Edward St roadside to allow the Bus to turn around and pick up at the junction with Railway St.
The Taxi rank Henry St will be closed. The taxi rank outside the Norfolk remains open.
All shops, homes, care homes and businesses remain open as usual, as does the Train station.
The bus stops on Henry St will be closed 8 am Saturday 30th May – 8 pm Sunday 31st May 2026 incl.
High St West bus stops will be closed 8am- 8 pm Saturday 30th May 2026 and 8 am – 8pm Sunday 31st May.
Temporary bus stops will be used instead, on Railway St/Bernard St/Edward St junction. Busses will be re-routed. Access to Railway st North end from Bernard St will be available but blocked at times as we move, load/unload.
Road closures
Henry St closed to all traffic – 8 am Friday 29th May (limited bus access on Friday 29th May only) – Sunday 8pm 31st May 2026
High St West closed 8am to 8pm Saturday 30th May and 8am – 8pm Sunday 31st May 2026, from Arundel St to lights at High St East junction.
Note the parking displays on High Street West will have display items in them overnight Saturday 30th May and so will remain closed and unavailable overnight Saturday 30th May; road narrows signs, lights and fencing will be in place around the closed parking bays.
Railway St closed from High St west to Henry St 8am – 8pm Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st May 2026.
Market St, Cross St, George St and East end of Chapel St closed, 8am – 8pm Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st May 2026. Note parking bays will be closed and occupied with Market Stalls during Saturday and Sunday 09:00 – 18:00 hrs. Road & pedestrian access to Calico court will remain open via Chapel St.
Parking will be restricted to the south side of the market ground with north side bays closed. The market pedestrian cobbled area will also be occupied with event features.

NOTE PARKING WILL BE SUSPENDED ON HENRY ST, HIGH ST WEST (parking bays suspended 08:00 Saturday – 20:00 Sunday), RAILWAY ST, GEORGE ST, CROSS ST, east end of Chapel St. east end of Edward St and Bernards St and Market St FOR THE TIMES SHOWN as closed.
SHAW LANE PARKING WILL ALSO SUSPENDED 8am – 8pm 30th May & 8am – 8pm 31st May 2026 FOR THE DIVERSION ROUTE STIPULATED BY Derbyshire county council.

Due to a burst water main on Talbot Rd, all traffic must now use Hadfield Rd, Park Rd, Cemetery Rd and Woodhead Rd as below.
